Volunteer Judges Needed

On Friday May 17th, EWG seniors will be completing their Senior Project by giving an oral presentation explaining their project. Their portfolios will also be evaluated.
The schedule is:
7:45-8:15--Coffee in the SH Cafeteria (Optional)
7:45-8:15 New Community Judge Training
8:15-8:45 Portfolio Evaluation Training in auditorium
8:45- 9:50 Portfolio Evaluation in assigned rooms
10-11:35 Senior Project Oral Presentations

Useful Information About

Oral Presentations :

  • Presentations are done in Junior or Senior High School Rooms.
  • Presentations are from 12:45 to 2:25 in 4 waves. A schedule will be posted online
    • 12:45-1:10
    • 1:10-1:35  
    • 1:35-2:05
    • 2:05-2:25
  • You must report to the library a minimum of 15 minutes before your presentation.  You must check in.
  • Your portfolio will be placed in the presentation room for the judges to review well before your presentation.  Your portfolio is NOT the required visual aid.
  • Once done, take your portfolio, visual aids, and product (if present) to the Senior High Gym and set it up on a table.
  • Take a look on the Presentation Videos Page for some examples of good presentations

As we move into the second semester, there are a few items that need your attention:
  1. Research Papers:  I am hoping to have these read in the next few weeks; however, many still have not turned in there.

    1. Hard Copy of Sources (Group 1A only)
    2. Interview Evaluation Form Papers cannot be read until these are submitted
  1. Share Fieldwork Time Log- due 1/25
    1. This will take you 5 minutes- be sure you fill this out as you start to work on your product.
  2. Product Plan  Due 1/30
  3. First Fieldwork Journal Due 2/9
  4. Documentation is key to a sucessful product- you must take pictures and record the time you spend doing your product.
    1. Please look at the Product Documents so you see what you need.
    2. Please watch the Senior Project Product Evaluation Video.

Student in Groups 2/2A must submit their products soon. Please take a few minutes to read the below documents and watch the Senior Project Product Evaluation Video.  so you can help your student prepare

2012 Senior Project Product Requirements

Product presentation and  judging will take place on 1/5 and 1/6 for Group 2 and 2A students.  Students will be scheduled sometime during the school day.

On the Day of Product Evaluations you will:
  1. Report to the Multipurpose Room at the scheduled time.
  2. Bring the required items (see yes test)
  3. Be prepared to answer questions for the judges.
    1. Especially be ready to explain your learning stretch
  4. This is not a formal oral presentation; you need not dress up.
    1. You must meet the school dress code
  5. Be sure that you have done what you said you would in your Letter of Intent.
    1. If you said you would do a video, do a video.


1.  Product reflects a learning stretch beyond the knowledge the student already knows and demonstrates a connection to the research paper.

2.  Product must be student driven as evidenced by the portfolio documentation process.   

· Physical product must be presented for judging as well a through documentation of the process

  · Required minimum of five documentary photographs of the process. Photographs must be displayed sequentially and be captioned. (5 is lame- do 10!)

· Required signed time log documenting steps taken and amount of time spent.  

· May also contain video/other digital evidence as applicable.

3.  Product must reflect a minimum of 15 hours logged towards completion, Parent initials and signatures are required

4.   Student must be prepared to present their product to the judges and answer questions.


In order for your product to be evaluated, it must contain the following basic components.  A “NO” on ANY single item will result in your product not being evaluated until the “NO” indicator is completed.   

____ ____     The product is the product approved in the letter of intent.

____ ____     The documentation is the documentation approved in the letter of intent.

_____ ____ Physical product (if applicable) is present or product contains other
                          evidence of thorough documentation as applicable.

_____ _____   Product has a required minimum of five documentary
                          photographs. Photographs must be dated, displayed sequentially, and be captioned

_____ _____   Product has the required time log of a minimum 15 hours
                          logged towards completion, Parent initials and signature required

_____ _____   Product Completed.

Fall Common task/Benchmark Ramp ups

Mandatory Common Task/Benchmark Ramp-ups are starting the week of November 14th for Juniors and Seniors.  These sessions are MANDATORY for those missing benchmarks.  You will receive a personalized sheet with your required sessions as well as an e-mail reminder.
  •                  Students are to bring whatever partial benchmarks they have with them.  If they have nothing, a new one will be supplied.
  •                 Students are scheduled if:  1. They were missing the benchmark. 2. They are not scheduled in a class this year in which they could     make it up.
  •                 If a student has achieved a benchmark since the data from this report was generated, he or she may show proof of completing the benchmark to Mr. Quindazzi and they will be removed from the schedule.
  •                If a student believes there is an error, they may show proof of completing the benchmark to Mr. Quindazzi, and he or she will be removed from the schedule.

  • Please make  your first stop for senior project news. While not every question and concern is addressed there, it does provide a wealth of information. Please be sure you have an up to date version of IE, Firefox, or Chrome for best results.

Basic Structure of 2012 Senior Project

Week of October 24th, 2011

  • All Students have submitted their Letters of Intent  and all have been approved..
  • All students have submitted their Senior Project Consent Forms
  • All Group 2 and 2A students have submitted their
    • Product Plans
    • Fieldwork Time Log
      • It is essential that students fill out the time log every time they work on their products as well as take pictures of their progress.
  • Group 1 and 1A Students are currently working on their Research Paper are due 12/5 or 12/6
    • IMPORTANT: If a student is beginning work on his or her product early, he or she MUST keep track of your hours using the Fieldwork Time Log
